WHY ARE INGREDIENTS IMPORTANT?
The skin is our largest functioning organ of the body. Our skin protects our body by preventing bacteria, pollutants and germs from entering our bloodstream. Our skin breathes in oxygen, moisture and nutrients and breathes out waste and toxins. Ingredients used in most American skin care products contain potentially harmful ingredients. The FDA does not regulate this industry. Companies are not required to list ingredients on their products. Since Arbonne International products are for the discriminating label-reading consumer, you will NOT find the following ingredients in our products!

MINERAL OIL (propylene glycol)
98% of U.S. skin care products have a mineral oil base. Mineral oil, the #1 most used ingredient in the U.S., is used because it is an inexpensive ingredient, costing about $1.00/gallon, as compared to essential oils which can cost as much as $100.00/gallon. Mineral oil is a mixture of refined liquid hydrocarbons derived from petroleum, a product of black crude oil. In Switzerland, where Arbonne products are formulated, it is illegal to use mineral oil in hospitals. Mineral oil's molecular size is too large to be absorbed by the skin, thus it forms a film on the skin's surface blocking the pore's natural respiration and secretion process, as well as absorption of other nutrients. This puts more stress on the liver as more toxins are trapped inside the body. Imagine, two saltine crackers, one soaking in mineral oil, the other in water. The first cracker, soaking in mineral oil, is hard because the mineral oil has formed a plastic like barrier around the cracker. The visual picture of this cracker shows how our skin functions when exposed to mineral oil. The second cracker, soaking in water, has become hydrated and emulates a visual picture of how we want our skin to function.

PETROLEUM(PETROLATUM)
An oil product that does not penetrate the skin, forms a barrier blocking natural respiration, excretion and absorption of other nutrients, contributing to blemishes.

WAXES(Carnauba, Candelilla, Paraffin, and Beeswax)
Sticky ingredients that seal the pores, attract dirt, bacteria and pollutants to the skin.

COLLAGEN
An animal product, collagen is added to formulas as a moisturizing agent. Collagen molecules are too large to penetrate the skin and can therefore clog pores blocking the skin's absorption of nutrients and halting the natural respiration and secretion process.

LANOLIN
A common lubricating ingredient in skin care formulas derived from an oily excretion of sheep's wool. Lanolin can cause allergic skin reactions in sensitive people.

CHEMICAL DYES, PTHALATES AND FRAGRANCES
Chemical formulated ingredients can cause allergic reactions, birth defects & photosensitivity. Herbs and botanical ingredients can serve the same purpose replacing the need for these harmful ingredients.

ALCOHOLS AND ACETONE
These colorless, volatile ingredients in the form of SD40 alcohol(denatured ethyl alcohol), solvent alcohol and propyl or isopropyl (petroleum derivatives) strip the skins natural acid mantle, exposing the pores to germs and bacteria.

SOAP
This ingredient strips the protective acid mantle of the skin. The skin takes 24 hours to repair itself after using soap. It is also very drying to the skin.

PRESERVATIVES
Arbonne a 3-4% preservative base in comparison to the typical cosmetic ratio of approximately a 50% preservative base.
